Hi! I’m David.
I’m a filmmaker and photographer based in Amsterdam. From a young age, I’ve had a deep connection with the world of filmmaking, starting with my grandpa’s old Nikon film camera when I was just 3 years old (which I definitely didn’t almost drop). As I grew older, I continued to explore my passion for visual storytelling, creating everything from stop-motion LEGO videos to ski footage shot on my first own proper camera – a GoPro Hero 3.
Originally from Ljubljana, Slovenia, I fully committed to pursuing my dream of working in the film industry by moving to Amsterdam to enroll in a Film Institute Filmmaking course. I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelors in Digital filmmaking, specializing in cinematography. Since then, photography and filmmaking have become an integral part of my life, allowing me to share my unique perspective with the world.
When it comes to editing, I’ve been using Adobe products for over 8 years, with Premiere Pro as my main editing software for 9 years and 5 years of experience with Lightroom. With a focus on precision and attention to detail, I take pride in delivering high-quality work that truly captures the essence of each project.
Now, you might be wondering why I chose the name “Bernik64”. Well, Bernik is my last name, and 64 holds a special significance in the film industry. From the 64-bit systems powering our cameras and computers to the 64 squares on a chessboard – a game of strategy, critical thinking, and planning – the number 64 plays a vital role in the modern world of filmmaking. Plus, it’s one stack in Minecraft, but that’s just a fun little bonus.
